Two women were arrested from HDh. Hanimaadhoo on Wednesday, after the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence received information regarding a drug business being run out of their residence.
In a statement on Thursday, the police said the women were arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Hanimaadhoo Police Station and the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.

While the police did not mention a familial relationship between the two, a councilor from Hanimadhoo confirmed to Sun that they are mother and daughter.
The police said they seized 189.69 grams of drugs and an unspecified amount of cash during the raid on the residence.
The women were presented before the Hanimaadhoo Magistrate Court for their remand hearing on Thursday morning.
The court ordered for Maya to be held in police custody for 15 days, and her mother for five days.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
