Addu referendum: Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo break away

In Saturday’s referendum, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo voted to establish separate councils, formally seeking administrative independence from Addu City Council. Meanwhile, a majority in Feydhoo voted against separation, opting to remain under the existing council structure.  Voting for the Addu City referendum began at 8:00 hours and by 16:00, most polling stations had closed.
