Pakistani traveler caught carrying MVR 13M in heroin

A Pakistani traveler has been arrested from Maldives carrying drugs worth MVR 13 million.

Maldives Customs Service identified the traveler as a 25-year-old Pakistani male who arrived at the Velana International Airport on a flight from the Pakistani city of Faisalabad on Monday.

He was flagged for suspicious behavior, prompting airport officials to question him, and conduct a search.

Officials found drugs weighing 10.14 kilos from his luggage.

The drugs tested positive for heroin.

According to Customs, the street value of the drugs is estimated to be above MVR 13 million.

Both the traveler and the drugs have been transferred to the custody of police for a criminal investigation.
