Leaders from Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are set to meet Thursday to discuss forming a possible coalition.

The meeting will take place at 12:00 pm Thursday at the MDA headquarters in Male’.

The meeting will be attended by MDP’s chairperson Fayyaz Ismail and Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed Hussain (Bigey), along with MDA’s deputy leader and chair of the party’s coalition committee Ali Mauroof, and deputy chair Aishath Rafiyya.

The planned meeting comes after MDA’s leader Ahmed Siyam Mohamed decided against contesting the upcoming presidential election, and decided to join a coalition instead.

According to Mauroof, MDA has also been invited to join coalitions by additional parties, and will make its decision after reviewing all invitations.
