MTCC completes Fehendhoo harbor development, Fainu shore protection

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the harbor development project in B. Fehendhoo and the coastal protection project in R. Fainu.

FEHENDHOO HARBOR

MTCC said it began work on the Fehendhoo harbor project, valued at MVR 45.1 million, on November 10, 2019.

The company announced on Wednesday that it completed work on the project on November 20.

Under the project, the company dredged the harbor and the harbor channel, and constructed a 130-meter breakwater, a 214-meter quay wall, and a 317-meter revetment.

The company also paved a 908-squaremeter area in the harbor and installed ramps.

MTCC also constructed an 812-squaremeter walkway bridge linking the harbor with the island, installed navigation lights, and installed settlement tanks.

FAINU COASTAL PROTECTION

MTCC completed work on the Fainu coastal protection project, valued at MVR 8.9 million, on Sunday, December 12.

Under the project, MTCC poured 8,100 cubic meters of sand in the area prone to erosion, and installed geobag revetment in a 250-meter area.

Following the completion of the project, the company, under its corporate social responsibility, are working on leveling the dockyard in Fainu and cleaning and leveling the roads of the island.

MTCC has 62 different projects in progress across Maldives.
