Paving works have begun on Segment One of the Ameenee Magu Development Project.

MTCC commenced asphalt paving today for the first segment of the project, which the company was awarded on June 15 this year.

The renovation project includes repairing the road surface and redesigning pavements in areas such as bus stops. Segment One covers the stretch from Izzuddin Magu, in front of the Voice of Maldives building, to the park near Dharumavantha Hospital.

MTCC has earlier stated that Segment Two, the area from the Voice of Maldives building to Ghiyasuddin School, will be opened to the public once paving works are completed. The overall works are scheduled to finish by November next year.

In addition to Ameenee Magu, MTCC will also repair previously tarred sections of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The reconstruction of Ameenee Magu began following public complaints over difficulties faced by commuters due to the damaged road surface near the Harbor Food Court area.
