MTCC awarded Baarah and Thuraakunu football ground development projects

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded two projects for the development of football grounds in Ha. Baarah and Ha. Thuraakunu, under agreements signed with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness.

The agreements were signed at a ceremony held at the ministry. Youth Minister Abdulla Rafiu signed on behalf of the ministry, while MTCC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed signed on behalf of the company. MP for Baarah Constituency Ibrahim Shujau attended the signing.

Under the Baarah project, MTCC will prepare the subbase, construct the pitch, build the boundary wall, install fencing, set up the lighting system, and lay the turf. The project is valued at MVR 13.64 million and must be completed within 200 days.

The Thuraakunu project involves installing a new lighting system and constructing a rostrum at the island’s football ground. MTCC has been awarded the project at a cost of MVR 7.82 million, with a completion period of 250 days.
