DED arrests 1 in another drug bust in Hulhumale’

A Maldivian male has been taken into custody with a large quantity of drugs from an apartment in Hulhumale’ in an operation run by the Drug Enforcement Department of Maldives Police Service.

The suspect, identified as a 32-year-old Maldivian male, 32 rubber packets containing drugs was found during a search of his apartment last Monday.

Hulhumale’ Court has remanded the suspect to 10 days in custody of the police.

Maldives Police Service reports the DED raided the apartment after it received information on a drug smuggling and trafficking operation.

The case is under further investigation by the department.

The latest drug bust in Hulhumale’ comes a week after DED found three kilos of drugs from an apartment during a raid. A 25-year-old Maldivian male and his mother were arrested from the apartment during the raid. The male suspect remains in custody while his mother was released.
