Five suspects face remand after Kaashidhoo drug raids targeting 10 houses

Five people have been arrested and remanded in custody in connection with a drug trafficking case in K. Kaashidhoo.

Those arrested include Madheeh Rasheed, 29, of Hiyaa 2, 02‑13/Malé City, and Ghanim Mufeedh, 26, of Dhilshaadhuge, GDh. Rathafandhoo.

Three others from Kaashidhoo , Abdul Aleem Mohamed, 47, of Radium; Nazan Mohamed Shakir, 22, of Shabnam; and Mohamed Ahudh, of Rihithari , were also arrested in connection with the case.

Police said the suspects were arrested on the 30th of this month in a joint operation conducted by Drug Enforcement, Counter Narcotics Intelligence, and Kaafu Atoll Police.

Officers searched 10 houses in Kaashidhoo and arrested 10 individuals, four of whom were later released.

The remaining six were produced before the court for remand decisions. One suspect was released on conditions, while Mohamed Akhudh and Ghanim Mufeedh were remanded for 10 days. Abdul Aleem Mohamed, Madheeh Rasheed, and Nazan Mohamed Shakir were remanded for 15 days, police said.

The provisional weight of the drugs recovered during the operation is 32.55 grams.

Police are investigating the case further.

Drug trafficking cases have become increasingly common in recent years.
