The Civil Court on Monday ordered Fenaka Corporation to pay MVR 6.8 million within a week to one of the company’s vendors.

In 2022, Veshi Link Investment provided equipment and services worth MVR 12.8 million to two of the state utility company’s branches in Lh. Atoll back in 2022.

In September 2024, the company sued Fenaka seeking MVR 8.5 million of the remaining payment and MVR 70,000 in legal fees within a week’s time.

Civil Court Judge Aishath Azfa Abdul Ghafoor delivered the verdict in the case on Monday.

While the outstanding payment at the time the lawsuit was filed was MVR 8.5 million, the remaining balance at the time of the ruling was MVR 6.8 million.

At court, Fenaka had argued that the company had been paying the money in installments, and objected to being asked to make the remaining payment within a week.

The company had argued that making such a big payment would disrupt its services.

However, the judge decided in favor of Veshi Link Investment, and ordered Fenaka to settle the remaining MVR 6.8 million and MVR 70,000 in legal fees within seven days.
