Poised project to save 3.13 million liters of diesel annually, says Fenaka

Fenaka Corporation says the solar PV and battery storage systems installed in Raa and Baa atolls under the Preparing Outer Islands for Sustainable Energy Development (Poised) project will save an estimated 3.13 million liters of diesel every year.

The company noted that the new systems will have a favourable environmental impact, with the shift to solar‑diesel hybrid generation significantly reducing fuel consumption across the two atolls. Fenaka described this as an important step forward in lowering the Maldives’s fuel expenditure and expanding renewable energy output.

In terms of environmental protection, Fenaka said the systems will reduce 8,400 tonnes of carbon emissions per year, marking a major boost to the country’s efforts to combat global climate change.

Fenaka added that the project is a crucial step for the Maldives’ sustainable development and environmental protection. The company said such initiatives will strengthen rural energy systems and expand opportunities for environmentally friendly electricity generation.
