Reclamation of 42 hectors in Vihafaru lagoon commences

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) on Thursday commenced work to reclaim 42 hectors of land in Vihafaru lagoon located in N. Atoll, in order to develop an airport. Land reclamation works were initiated by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and MACL’s Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef in a ceremony attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, cabinet ministers, and senior government officials.
