The Tourism Ministry posted an announcement on Wednesday inviting bids to develop resorts in the K. Kaashidhoo lagoon and N. Farumuli.
According to the ministry, the projects entail reclaiming 10 hectors of land from the Kaashidhoo lagoon for a resort, and reclaiming 71.18 hectors in Farumuli to develop a resort that is maximum 15 hectors.
Virtual information sessions will be held at 10:00 am on February 16 and March 3.
The deadline for submission of bids is 10:00 am on April 1.
This marks the second time for the Tourism Ministry to invite bids for resort development in Kaashidhoo lagoon. The original one was issued in April last year.
Farumuli, located in N. Maafaru, was removed from the jurisdiction of Maafaru by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu back in July last year. The move had been a reversal of an earlier decision by him to add Farumuli back to the jurisdiction of Maafaru as he had promised during his 2023 presidential campaign.
