Foreigner arrested with 28 bottles of alcohol

A foreigner was arrested with 28 bottles of alcohol on Wednesday night.

The suspect has been identified as a 25-year-old Sri Lankan male; Tharindh Maheyshaka.

Police said he was arrested during a search of a car based on a tip received to officers patrolling Hulhumale’ Phase I.

In this regard, Police detailed that the car, driven by the foreigner, was stopped near Amin Avenue and searched during which they discovered 28 bottles of alcohol. While the man was arrested, the car has been towed, added the Police.

The case is under investigation by Hulhumale’ Phase I Police Station.

The involvement of foreigners in drug-related cases remains prevalent. Notably, two foreigners were recently arrested with a large quantity of alcohol from Hulhumale’ Phase III.
