Liquor-related offences have become increasingly common in the Male' area. Two foreigners were arrested earlier this week with 17 bottles of liquor after being stopped while riding a motorcycle in the city.
Authorities say foreigners have been involved in a growing number of drug and alcohol trafficking cases in recent months. Immigration has stepped up efforts to deport undocumented migrants and individuals involved in criminal activity.
