Two Bangladeshi nationals have been remanded in custody for 15 days over the possession of 17 bottles of suspected liquor.

The arrested individuals were identified as 24-year-old MD Yamin Ali and 22-year-old MD Abdul Ajom. Both were taken into custody on suspicion of drug use and possession of alcohol.

According to the court order, the two men were arrested after evidence was submitted against them. The police incident report stated that officers found 17 bottles of suspected liquor under the seat of the motorcycle and inside a bag placed on the vehicle. The court order further noted that both suspects tested positive for THC.

The court said the two men should remain in custody as they are believed to be irregular immigrants and are foreign nationals from Bangladesh. The order also stated that the arrests were made in accordance with procedure. Their remand expires on Sunday, the 18th of this month.

Foreign nationals have played a major role in similar drug-related cases in recent years. The number of expatriates arrested, especially in liquor cases, has increased recently, with most suspects being Bangladeshi citizens.
