Civil Aviation Authority (CIA) states they have launched an investigation into Sunday’s seaplane accident while attempting to land at a resort in Baa Atoll after its floats detached.

CIA said a Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) seaplane took damage to its left float while attempting to land at Seaside Finolhu Resort West Inn Maldives Miyarandhoo in Baa Atoll at approximately 3:30pm on Sunday.

As per the authority, the seaplane was a DHC Dash 6 with 11 passengers and three crew aboard.

CIA also noted that no one was injured in the accident despite the seaplane taking in damage and nor was any of the luggage aboard damaged.

A viral video on social media shows the seaplane taking in water as a result of the accident.

In an earlier statement, MNDF said all passengers aboard the seaplane were safely transported back to Male’ City.

TMA which boasts the largest seaplane fleet in the world flies a total of 65 seaplanes.
