A race track and three new resorts planned for Makunudhoo lagoon

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to open up more resorts for tourism in the lagoon of HDh. Makunudhoo in the next term.

He said Makunudhoo is also one of the most favourable islands for tourism. The reason being that the reef and the environment of this village is so beautiful.

“One resort is being developed even now. God willing, we will open up more resorts in the bay here,” President Solih said.

He said he had thought about the Makunudhoo airport project many times before and that the work has begun on the project like the people want, and will be finished in the coming days.

He said the three islands will be dredged and be developed for tourism along with the airport.

In addition, President Solih said that one of the three racing tracks to be developed in Maldives in the next term will be developed on that island.

He also said that the RTL ferry has been connected and is one of the most important things to alleviate the isolation of Makunudhoo. He said that this will keep the previously outrageous prices to travel to islands down.

“The opening of RTL services to this area has saved you 87 percent of your previous out-of-pocket expenses,” President Solih said.

With the economic transformation, the entire country will be connected by the transportation system and tourism will grow many times over and the economy will grow, he said.

Projects planned for Makunudhoo in the second term:

  • Land reclamation and building housing units
  • Paving and developing roads
  • Building a football field and racing track for the youth
  • Deepening the port
  • Establishing an ice plant
  • Establishing a specific area for mariculture 

President Solih said he was confident that the people of Makunudhoo would not go into the injustice of the previous government and continue with the efforts started by this government for the development of Maldives and the development of the island.

“I wish you to vote wisely and after careful consideration in the upcoming elections,” he said.

  • Building housing units
  • Making sports facilities available for the youth
  • Paving and developing roads
  • Establishing a specific area for leisure swimming

  • Making the port bigger and doing repairs
  • Establishing a specific area for leisure swimming
  • Paving and developing roads
  • Making sports facilities available for the youth
