NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez said that some migrants in Male’ City will be repatriated back to their countries in a news conference tonight.

“Work to collect the documents of some Bangladeshi nationals is underway. Discussions are also underway with the Bangladeshi government. To find a way to repatriate them.” Said Mabrouq.

Noting the work by the Economic Ministry for the same purpose, Mabrouq said some migrants will be repatriated through that work as well.

The Maldivian government has established an accommodation facility for migrants living conditions of poor hygiene in the capital. Around 200 migrants were moved to the facility before a positive case of Covid-19 was identified from the facility.
