Elderly woman in critical condition following fall down air shaft

An elderly woman is in critical condition following a fall down the air shaft of her residence in Male’ City this Thursday morning.

Maldives Police Service reports the 76-year-old woman – fell down the air shaft from a fourth floor apartment located in Maafannu district of Male’ City.

She sustained multiple fractures due to the fall; including to her skull and thighbones.

The woman is currently being treated at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

Maldives Police Service reports it is investigating the cause of the fall.
