Area from Izzuddin Jetty to Henveiru Ferry Terminal to be closed for road redevelopment

The stretch of road from the Izzuddin Jetty to Henveiru Ferry Terminal is set to be closed on Sunday, for work on redeveloping the Boduthakurufaanu Magu that wraps around the Male’ City with asphalt.

According to the police, the section of the ring road will be closed starting 00:00 hours Sunday to until asphalt works are complete.

The police have released a chart that shows the section that will be closed off to public transport.

The first phase of the mega project to redevelop the Boduthakurufaanu Magu is now near completion. The contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is currently carrying out work on the fourth segment of the road.

MTCC has stated that it has completed upgrading the sanitation system, as well as 52 percent of work on the pavement, installing water pipes, laying the curbstones, and installing cable junction boxes.

The company states that it is scheduled to provide new water and sanitation connections in the area next week.

The road development project seeks to ease the flow of traffic in the populous capital city and resolve the issue of flooding during heavy rain.
