Only 4 parties submitted audit reports

Election Commission (EC) states that only four political parties submitted their audit reports before the deadline.

Member of EC Ahmad Akram informed Sun Online last Thursday that Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Jumhoori Party (JP) are the only parties that submitted their audit reports.

PPM submitted their audit report last Thursday – the last day of submission and MDP submitted their audit report in the end of April.

Akram stated that Adhaalath Party and Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) did not submit their audit reports before the deadline.

According to the regulations of political parties, those parties that does not submit their audit reports before the deadline will be fined from an amount of MVR between 20,000 and 50,000.

EC has previously stopped providing the parties that did not submit their audit reports with funds.
