Chinese worker dies after fall from construction site in Hulhumale’

A worker has been reported dead after falling from a construction site in Hulhumale’ Phase II this Saturday morning.

Maldives Police Service reports the incident took place at approximately 8:29 am.

The victim has been identified as a Chinese citizen.

MPS reports he fell from the ninth floor to the second floor of Tower VI and died upon impact.

The reason for the fall is unclear at this point.

The body of the Chinese worker has been taken to the Hulhumale’ Hospital.

The latest fatality in a construction site accident in Hulhumale’ comes less than two weeks after a brick which fell from a construction site hit a Bangladeshi worker resulting in his death. The incident took place on February 17, and he was buried on February 19.
