Deadline for reregistration for the parliamentary elections has been extended to 10 pm of this Saturday.

The deadline for reregistration was originally set to 3 pm, but Elections Commission reports the deadline has now been extended to 10 pm.

Spokesperson and member of EC, Ahmed Akram reports the commission has received 8,500 reregistration applications so far.

Akram said the commission made the decision to extend the deadline due to the large queue of last-minute reregistration applicants at the commission's election center this Saturday.

“We advise everyone not to wait until the last day, but to submit the applications even if it is to representatives of candidates. Waiting until the last minutes means you will likely have to wait in a long queue,” said Akram.

He noted that only 100 voters applied for reregistration in the first week the application process was opened.

264,589 people have the rights to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections – which will be held on April 6.
