A man has been sentenced to jail for illegally entering an MTCC site in Hulhumale and stealing electrical wire rolls.
Ali Haseen, 28, of Havasa / Lh. Hinnavaru, was convicted on two counts: knowingly entering an unauthorized place and unauthorized possession of another person’s property.
According to court documents, the incident occurred when an intruder cut through the fence at the MTCC site in Hulhumale’ and entered the premises without the security guards’ knowledge. He was later caught stealing rolls of electrical wire from the site.
At the preliminary hearing, Ali Haseen pleaded guilty to both charges. The court noted that he confessed voluntarily without any coercion, and the trial judge found him guilty on both counts.
In sentencing, the court reduced the level of punishment in accordance with the law due to his guilty plea.
For knowingly entering an unauthorized place, he was sentenced to 27 days in jail.
For unauthorized possession of another’s property, he received one month and 24 days in jail.
With both sentences combined, Ali Haseen faces a total of two months and 21 days in jail.
