Man injured as falling tile strikes his head in Male' city

A man was injured when a tile fell from a building and hit him on the head in Male’ city on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at 6:42 am on Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Maafannu, Male’ City. Police said the injured person is a Bangladeshi man who is now receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Sun learned that in addition to the tile, a glass pane had also fallen from the building during the incident.

Police have not shared any information regarding the man’s condition. IGMH’s media team was contacted for details, but no information has been provided yet.

Police said they are looking into the incident.

There have been previous cases of dangerously placed objects on balconies of tall buildings in Male’ city. The Male’ City Council has repeatedly urged residents not to place items on balconies in ways that could fall onto the streets below.
