Siyam urges everyone to work together to restore Maldives’ economy

Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, the president of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and parliamentary representative for Dh. Meedhoo, urged the Maldivian people to work together to restore the Maldivian economy.

He made the appeal on Sunday in an address on occasion of the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day.

In his address, Siyam highlighted on the Maldives’ independence journey, and paid tribute to the national heroes whose sacrifices made it possible.

He also stressed the importance of national unity and economic development.

Siyam paid special tribute to former Maldivian leader Ibrahim Nasir, who led negotiations with the British that led to Maldives regaining its independence on July 26, 1965.

His vision and “nation-first’ philosophies remain a key lesson to the younger generation, he said.

Siyam noted that small island nations such as the Maldives face more and more challenges with each passing year.

He also urged Maldivian people to rise up against any and all external attempts to undermine the country’s independence.

Highlighting on the economic challenges facing the country, Siyam urged everyone to work together to overcome the challenges and restore the Maldivian economy.

He urged everyone to contribute to national productivity.
