Fenaka launches program to promote accountability among staff through Islamic values

Fenaka Corporation has launched a special program aimed at promoting accountability through Islamic values among its employees.

The initiative, titled "Achieving Professional Success through Islamic Values," is being conducted through a collaboration between the Fenaka Institute for Training and Research and the Uyoon Institute of Jamiyyath Salaf.

The program has been designed to provide administrative guidance to the company’s executive leadership while strengthening workplace ethics and professional conduct among employees in line with Islamic values and principles.

According to Fenaka, the initiative is intended as a comprehensive long-term program that will eventually be extended to all employees across its branches nationwide, regardless of rank or position.

Speaking with Sun, Fenaka’s Managing Director Mohamed Afeef Hassan said the primary objective of the program is to raise awareness among employees about the religious importance of fulfilling their professional responsibilities.

"As Fenaka is a corporation with a large workforce, we are conducting this program to transform our staff into a more accountable workforce. We have observed instances where some individuals attend work and clock in, yet remain unproductive while others engage in actual work. This program is aimed at addressing such issues," he said.

Afeef further said that after assuming leadership of the company, he observed cases in which some employees would clock in and then return home without carrying out any work-related duties. He noted that it was unfair for certain employees to complete full eight-hour shifts while others received the same salary without making any contribution.

In addition to the employee development programme, Fenaka stated that efforts to ‘rightsize’ the corporation’s workforce are progressing at a rapid pace.

Afeef detailed that the redundancy process for employees who have voluntarily applied to resign, the company is expected to be completed by July. He added that the broader restructuring process aimed at achieving an optimal workforce size is projected to conclude by the end of the year.

Fenaka, which currently employs more than 8,000 staff members, said that several island branches have also expressed interest in participating in the rightsizing initiative.

According to the company, the interest stems from concerns among productive employees who are dissatisfied with working alongside an excess number of staff members who do not have any actual responsibilities. Fenaka aims to complete the exercise before the end of the year, with the goal of establishing a more streamlined and cost-effective budget for the coming year.
