Customs seizes MVR 6 million worth of hashish oil

Maldives Customs Service has thwarted an attempt to smuggle over eight kilos of hashish oil into the Maldives.

According to Customs, the drugs were seized from the Velana International Airport (VIA) on Tuesday.

The drugs seized in the operation weighted 8.49 kilos and tested positive for hashish oil, a highly concentrated cannabis extract.

Customs stated that the street value of the drugs is estimated to be above MVR 6 million.

The agency did not provide any details regarding the suspect or suspects apprehended with the drugs.
