The two leaders are also scheduled to discuss new avenues of cooperation in education, technical training, economic cooperation, public administration, heritage, and international affairs, the office said. The President is also scheduled to attend the Sri Lanka–Maldives Business Symposium and meet Maldivians living in Sri Lanka.
The President is accompanied on the trip by the First Lady, several government ministers and senior officials.
Last July, the Sri Lankan President paid an official visit to Maldives. During that visit, Maldives announced that it would issue on‑arrival visas for Sri Lankan citizens for three months.
Maldives established diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka on July 26, 1965, marking 61 years of bilateral ties this year.
