The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has forecast higher‑than‑usual rainfall for the next four months.

The MET Office on Sunday released its climate outlook for June to September, stating that rainfall during this period is expected to be above normal across most parts of the country.

According to the MET Office, the seasonal forecast is prepared based on April climate conditions and the broader drivers of weather changes. Temperatures are also expected to remain above normal throughout the four‑month period.

Last March and April recorded some of the highest temperatures experienced in Maldives. However, several parts of the country have seen severe weather over the past week.

The weather bureau has also forecast heavy rain and thundershowers in various regions.
