Bangladeshi man arrested for stabbing fellow countryman remanded for 7 days

The Bangladeshi man arrested on suspicion of slashing the throat of a fellow countryman in a violent assault in Male’ on early Saturday has been remanded in custody of the police for seven days.

The incident took place in Karankaa Magu in the Henveiru district of Male’ at around 01:08 am Saturday, and involved a 38-year-old man from Bangladesh who was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. The man sustained injuries to his throat and was rushed to the ADK Hospital.

Fellow Bangladeshi Antar Mulla, 28, was arrested in connection to the case the same day.

He was taken to the Criminal Court for his remand on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said the court remanded him in custody of the police for seven days.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
