The government has officially launched the Male' Taxi Line service, a new 24‑hour public taxi system supported by a dedicated mobile application.
The service was inaugurated on Thursday evening at a ceremony held at Hulhumale' Central Park, officiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, Cabinet ministers, MPs, and senior officials from state‑owned companies attended the event.
A total of 150 electric vehicles have been brought in for the service. The fleet includes compact cars suitable for Male's narrow streets as well as larger vehicles capable of travelling between Male' and Hulhumale'.
According to MTCC, the fleet consists of:
60 Changan S0.5 vehicles
90 Changan Lumin and S0.7 vehicles

Speaking at the ceremony, MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee said the Male' Taxi Line is a long‑term solution designed for future generations. He said all drivers have completed preparations and are ready to provide reliable service.
Saudee noted that MTCC already operates a wide range of public transport services and urged drivers to uphold high service standards. “Serve every customer with a smile,” he told the newly inducted drivers.
The Male' Taxi Line will operate exclusively with 100% electric vehicles, supporting the government’s environmentally friendly transport goals. Through the dedicated app, customers will be able to see the nearest available taxi and request rides instantly.
MTCC has also launched a hotline (1655) to assist customers with booking, app support, and emergencies.
