Hit-and-run suspect surrenders to police

The suspect in a hit-and-run in Male’ that that left a woman injured has surrendered himself to the police.

The police had shared CCTV footage of the man on Wednesday, asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating him.

A police spokesperson said on Thursday that he surrendered himself at the police headquarters in Male’ on Wednesday night, and answered questions from investigators.

The police are conducting the investigation without having him arrested, in light of his cooperation.

According to the police, the man hit a woman who was crossing the road with his motorcycle, but failed to stop.

The woman in question was crossing the Majeedhee Magu from near the Athama Palace.

The video shared by the police show a man driving a lack Honda Air Blade hitting a woman who was crossing the road near a zebra crossing. The woman is seen falling to the ground, as the man drives away without stopping.
