President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Tuesday, has incepted a government-owned company specific for importing medicine to the Maldives: ‘State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation’.
The President’s Office said the company was established for the purpose of importing prescription medicine, medical consumables and medical equipment in bulk, at a large scale, and supplying the items to various Maldivian regions.
The government holds 100 percent shares in the company.
Notably, 100 percent state-owned State Trading Organization (STO) already imports and sell prescription medicine, medical consumables and medical equipment to the Maldives. STO pharmacies have been established across all residential islands.
