Youth arrested with over a kilo of drugs and MVR 100K

A young man was arrested on Wednesday with more than MVR 100,000 in cash and a significant quantity of drugs.

Haroon Jailam, 23, of Kafidhooge, Lh. Hinnavaru, was apprehended by the Police and Drug Enforcement Department (DED) based on intelligence indicating his involvement in drug trafficking.

Police reported that the drugs and cash were discovered during searches of an apartment and two motorcycles conducted as part of the operation.

The two motorcycles have been impounded in connection with the incident.

A court has ordered Haroon to be remanded in custody for 15 days following his appearance for a remand decision. Police stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
