An issue with an electrical cable has resulted in a power outage in several parts of Hulhumale’ Phase II.

In a post on X on Tuesday morning, the State Electric Company (STELCO) attributed the power outage to a “technical issue”.

A spokesperson from STELCO told Sun that they believe the outage resulted from an issue with one of the electrical cables in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

Two feeders have tripped, added the spokesperson.

The state utility company said they were working on identifying the exact cause of the outage and restoring power to the affected areas as soon as possible.

Back in June, the Maldivian capital was affected by a total blackout that lasted nearly six hours, affecting tens of thousands of people in Male’ City, Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’.

The huge outage prompted a police investigation.
