Power out in parts of Hulhumale’

The power went out on Thursday from parts of Hulhumale’.

The power went out at around 08:20 am.

In a post on X, State Electric Company (STELCO) confirmed power was out in parts of Hulhumale’.

The state utility company attributed the outage to a “technical issue.”

“We are working on resolving the issue and restoring electricity,” added STELCO.

While power has been restored to some of the affected areas, other areas remain without electricity, disrupting daily lives of residents and hindering business activity.

The latest incident comes with the greater Male’ area affected by multiple outages in recent months - mostly attributed to damage to cables.

The most recent outage was on May 23, and was linked to a systems upgrade at the Hulhumale’ power plant. The outage lasted nearly four hours and affected both Hulhumale’ and Male’ City.
