The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) to press charges against former Fenaka Corporation employees for embezzling petty cash issued to the corporation’s various project sites.

ACC made the request to the PGO to press charges against these individuals on April 10, 2025.

The commission is seeking to press charges through PGO over the embezzlement of petty cash issued to Fenaka Corporation’s Addu City, Hithadhoo Central Power Station (CPS) project. ACC requested criminal charges against the following former employees:

Deputy Director, Projects Department Ahmed Sathish Saeed (Haseenee Villa, S. Feydhoo)

Senior Engineer, Projects Department Mohamed Aasidh (Nirolhumaage, Th. Thimarafushi)

Supervisor, Hussain Asir (Falhoamaage, S. Feydhoo)

ACC is seeking to press charges of attempting to commit an offence, conspiracy to commit an offence, abuse of power for illicit profiteering, and embezzlement of state assets and monies.

The commission had ordered Fenaka Corporation to recover a total of MVR 623,208.80 in allegedly embezzled money.

ACC further highlighted its investigation revealed the alleged individuals had committed forgery to commit the offences, due to which the matter had been passed along to Maldives Police Service for investigation as the local law enforcement authority has jurisdiction in such matters.

Fenaka Corporation faces the highest number of corruption allegations tied to the former government, while a no-flying order was issued against its former Managing Director Ahmed Saeed Mohamed in October last year. The PGO had pressed charges of abuse of power against him in December 2024.

Besides this, ACC has requested the PGO to press charges against both Saeed and Fenaka Corporation’s former Chief Accountant Mohamed Massood for the alleged corruption in the acquisition of an ice plant from a private company.

Saeed has maintained denial of all the allegations made against him.
