Award-winning Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has signed as the global ambassador for Visit Maldives.

The collaboration between Visit Maldives and Romano, who specializes in news about football transfers, was announced in a video shared via the Maldives tourism promotion board’s social media pages on early Saturday.

“Here we go!” says 31-year-old in the video – his signature catchphrase when reporting on done deals.

“I’ve teamed up with Visit Maldives as their global ambassador. Its important to have places to recharge. And let me tell you, the Maldives is seriously impressive. I’ve been blown away by the beauty. And its not just about the sunny views though. It’s the whole vibe.”

Romano has repeatedly visited the Maldives on holiday, and is now encouraging others to visit as well.

“Think of it as a solid break. A chance to get away from the everyday grit. We all need that, right? Whether you are looking for some chill time on the beach, want to try some awesome water sports, or just want to treat yourself to a bit of quality place – the Maldives has got you covered,” he said.

Romano asked everyone to keep an eye out for some “behind the scenes stuff” he plans to share in the coming days.

Romano is considered one of the most reliable sources in the field of football transfers.] His credibility and substantial social media following have led several football clubs to involve him in player announcement videos.

In 2022, Romano was featured in the European Forbes 30 Under 30 list for media and marketing. He also received the Best Football Journalist award at the 2022 Globe Soccer Awards and the Best Digital Journalist award at the 2023 edition.

His likeness was included in the EAFC25 video game, along with his signature catchphrase.
