Yaasir replaces Shiuree: Visit Maldives sees third leadership change

Abdulla Yaasir has been appointed as the Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation.

This is the third Managing Director appointed to the corporation by the current government since it came to power.

The post of MD of Visit Maldives, formerly known as MMPRC, became vacant after Ibrahim Shiuree resigned on Monday. The reason for his resignation remains unclear. However, before stepping down, he met with employees on Monday.

Shiuree was the second MD appointed by this government. The first was Fathimath Thaufeeg (Kudy).

Abdulla Yaasir is a well-known Maldivian multidisciplinary artist, author, and civil-society leader from S. Feydhoo.

He works across digital and mixed media to document and reconstruct unwritten Maldivian history, including his published visual history volume 'The Maldives We Remember: A Visual History of a Vanishing World'. Beyond the arts, he is the President and Founder of the Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives and co-hosts the national Entrepreneurship Talk Show, where he discusses business development and local enterprise.
