Family provided temporary housing following fire at Hithadhoo home

The residents of a house in Addu City's Hithadhoo district, which was the scene fire on Monday morning, have been provided with temporary housing.

The fire broke out at Gulkandhuge in Hithadhoo.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said the fire was reported to the authority at approximately 9:16am this morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and the fire was brought under control by around 9:40am.

According to the MNDF, no injuries were reported, though the fire caused significant damage to the majority of the house.

Addu City Hithadhoo Councilor Aminath Adhala Rasheed told Sun that the sitting room of the house was completely destroyed, while the kitchen was also affected by flames.

She noted that the family residing at the house, comprising of three adults and one child, has been provided with temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is still unclear, and the Maldives Police Service is continuing its investigation.
