A dangerous accident, involving the collision of a motorbike and a car, was reported in Hulhumale’ Phase II on Sunday.
Maldives Police Service confirmed car and motorbike collided near the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) site in Phase II around 14:45hrs on Sunday afternoon.
The biker sustained various injuries due to the accident and was hurried to hospital for immediate treatment.
Both vehicles sustained damages, police said and added they were investigating the incident.
Video clips of the aftermath circulating on social media shows the motorbike had been tossed significantly further off due to the impact of the collusion.
This is the most recent accident reported from Hulhumale’ with another accident involving a motorbike and police vehicle reported a few days earlier.
The injured biker, aged 18, is still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Police said they were investigating if the officer driving the police vehicle was culpable or not.
