Zameer meets ADFD DG for discussions of projects

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer has met with the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi on Tuesday.

Minister Zameer confirmed of his meeting with the ADFD Director General on his official X handle, and said the two had a constructive discussion of the projects implemented in the Maldives through the generous support of the ADFD.

At Tuesday’s meeting between Zameer and Al Suwaidi, the former also conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Maldives government for the valuable contributions of ADFD to the development of the country throughout the years.

The foreign minister flew to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday on an official visit on the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Foreign Ministry on Monday said that Minister Zameer will engage in high-level discussions with the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on whose invitation he is visiting the country, and other senior officials of the UAE government.

His visit, the ministry said, is an important step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The minister’s entourage consists of Ambassador-at-Large, Ahmed Naseer; Secretary, Bilateral, Dr. Hala Hameed; and Join Secretary, Mariyam Reesha.

While the foreign minister has met with the ADFD Director General, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during his attendance at the World Government Summit in Dubai earlier in February, had met with Al Suwaidi as well.

Both President Muizzu and Al Suwaidi spoke on enhanced multi-faceted cooperation for the development of the Maldives, including ADFD’s assurance to remain a consistent development partner to the island nation, especially in tourism, agriculture, and health.

Minister Zameer will conclude his three-day official visit to UAE and fly back on September 4, 2024, Wednesday.
