Chinese tourist dies after dive off Fuvahmulah

A Chinese tourist died on Thursday, after suddenly collapsing after coming up from a dive at the Tiger Shark Point off Fuvahmulah City.

The police identified the deceased as a 70-year-old Chinese male.

The incident was reported to the police at around 11:26 am on Thursday.

According to the Fuvahmulah City Council, the man had boarded the diving boat after a dive, and had been undoing the buckles of the belts in his dive suit when he suddenly fainted.

He was already deceased when taken to the Fuvahmulah City Hospital.

He had been a customer at a dive center located in the southern city.

The circumstances of his death are under investigation by the police.
