President Muizzu meets Chinese leader

Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, on his state visit to China.

President Muizzu travelled to China on his first state visit to a foreign country on Monday. He initially visited China’s Fujian province, where he attended the Invest Maldives Forum.

He travelled to Beijing on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, President Muizzu and first Lady Sajidha Mohamed were officially welcomed to the China by Chinese President Jinping and First Lady Madan Peng Liyuan.

They were greeted to a 21-gun salute and the national anthems of both countries played by the Chinese Military Band.

President Muizzu, accompanied by President Jinping then inspected the Guard of Honor.

During the ceremony, President Muizzu was greeted by and introduced to the Chinese dignitaries.

President DMuizzu’s state visit will include official talks between the governments of the Maldives and China, and the signing a number of key agreements to enhance collaboration and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
