Maldives and Azerbaijan agree to boost cooperation

The Maldives and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on increasing cooperation between the foreign affairs ministries of both countries.

The MoU was signed on Friday, at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), that is presently ongoing in Baku, Azerbaijan.

According to the Maldivian foreign ministry, the MoU aims to enhance and expand bilateral relations and cooperation between the Maldives and Azerbaijan, and also facilitate the holding of regular consultations between the two countries at all levels on issues of mutual interest.

It also aims to strengthen cooperation between the two sides on the training of diplomats.

The MoU was signed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on Maldives, Ahmed Khaleel, and Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elnur Mammadov.
