Nafiz appointed executive director at Fisheries Ministry

Ibrahim Nafiz (Chika) has been appointed as senior executive director at the Fisheries Ministry.

According to the President’s Office, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Wednesday under Article 115 (f) of the Constitution.

The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s council member Chika is the party’s president for Madaveli constituency.

Chika has prior convictions for drug and gang-related crimes. Believed by police to have once run a criminal gang, he later got involved in politics.

He does not have any recent convictions.
