The President of Maldives Development Alliance (MNP) and the Parliamentarian for Meedhoo constituency MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on Saturday said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was likable due to his discipline, character and his manner of doing things.

He made these remarks praising the president at a Maahefun held at Sun Siyam Vilureef. Over hundred members of MDA from different islands of Dhaaalu Atoll were in attendance at this function.

Addressing the gathering, Siyam noted that he has always worked towards attaining substantial benefits to Dhaalu Atoll, as well as the rest of Maldives. He added that for people’s support was needed.

He was also deeply critical of the former leadership of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). According to him, when he moved towards creating his own party during 2012, he was the most opposed to MDP. But for this, he placed the blame on the party’s “face” rather than the party itself.

“For instance, I might say the government it bad, the bank is bad. But the bank and government are not bad. It is bad because of the people there.”

Referring to the current state of MDP, Siyam said that the face of the party has changed.

In addition to this, he revealed that during his almost 20 year period in the Parliament, the only person from MDP he had close ties with would be former MP of Hinnavaru constituency, President Solih.

He made similar statements on the day MDA made the decision to form coalition with MDP.

Stating that he a very positive experience working with President Solih, hence urged the people of Meemu atoll as well as the entire country to give their support.
