Saudi Arabia will be donating 50 tons of dates to Maldives again this year, states the Maldivian Islamic Ministry.

Saudi Arabia donates dates to the Maldives every year on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Islamic Ministry’s spokesperson Ismail Afrah told Sun the shipment of dates is expected to arrive in Maldives in the first week of Ramadan.

Afrah said that the ministry will begin distribution as soon as it received the shipment.

The top priority is the people registered as poor, he said.

The dates donated by Saudi Arabia are distributed among the general population after distribution among the poor.
